Chronicle of war:

22 days left till the Great Patriotic War Victory Day

The most famous WWII films hit the soviet cinemas in 1960-s. However, a few formidable chefs d’oeuvre had been shot during the war. The shooting of the first series, entitled “Combat Cinecollection”, had started practically during the first days of the invasion. The first episode, divided into two novellas – A Dream Come True and The Three in the Shell Hole, appeared on August 2nd, 1941.

A Dream Come True is a satirical “warning” for Hitler that comes to him in an anxious dream of the inevitable defeat he would suffer in Russia. Hitler sees Napoleon, German invaders of 1918 – all those who had had first-hand experience of the power of the Russian arms. In The Three in a Shell Hole a Red Army soldier falls into a shell hole where a nurse tends to his wounds. The third inhabitant of the shell hole happens to be a Nazi but the nurse helps him as well. Thereafter he tries to kill her, and the Red Army soldier stops him with a dead shot. Six more episodes of the Combat Cinecollection series were later released to build up the fighting spirit of the soviet people.
