Chronicle of war:

12 days left till the Great Patriotic War Victory Day

She is Protecting Her Motherland is a feature film about a soviet woman fighting a guerilla war with the Nazi invaders. The film was directed by Friedrich Ermler in 1943 at the Central United Film Studio in Alma-Ata. The movie was released on May 20th, 1943. Vera Maretskaya, Nikolai Bogolyubov, and Lidia Smirnova starred the movie. In 1966, the Gorky film Studio remastered it, cutting it a bit shorter and redubbing.

The plot runs as follows: Praskovya Lukyanova lived a happy life. But one day the Nazi hosts infest the land of her forefathers. On the first day of the war, her husband falls at the hands of the enemy. Her son is tortured and killed by Hitler’s minions. Her heart is filled with rage and hatred, she goes to the woods, gathers a guerrilla band and reeks merciless vengeance upon the foe. Praskovya builds up her comrades' fighting spirit by her unshakable faith in their victory. When the cunning Germans spread false news of the fall of Moscow, she goes from village to village, spreading the word of truth of the heroic stand of the Moscow defenders. And wherever she passeth, people take up arms and rise to fight. However, the Nazi manage to seize her and condemn her to death. The fearless comrades save their leader in the nick of the time.
